A free net salary calculator for Senegal
Izi Paie is publishing a public calculator that converts gross salary into net, or the other way round, with the IPRES, IPM and CSS contributions, income tax and TRIMF in force. No account, no data kept.
The Izi Paie net salary calculator is now open to everyone, with no account to create. It answers two questions that Senegalese candidates and employers face every week: how much is left from a gross salary, and what gross to offer for a given net.
The same engine as the payslips
The calculator is not a separate spreadsheet. It calls the payroll engine that produces our customers' payslips, with the same scales: IPRES general and executive scheme contributions, the employee share of the IPM, income tax with its capped allowance and family relief, and the TRIMF. A correction made to the engine therefore reaches the calculator the same day.
Two points have been refined in recent days.
The TRIMF part now follows the spouse's situation. A married employee whose spouse has no income owes two parts, since they also settle their spouse's levy. If the spouse earns an income, each pays their own and the employee counts only one part, like a single person. Many tools apply two parts to every married employee, which overstates the withholding.
Tax above 5,000,000 FCFA of gross pay has been corrected. The monthly scale published by the tax authority stops at that amount; above it, the formula in the General Tax Code must be applied. Our formula was using a uniform family relief, accurate only for 2.5 parts. It now applies the rate, the minimum and the maximum specific to each number of parts. The extension of the scale is now exact, which we verified by comparing the formula against all 4,951 lines of the official scale, for the nine possible numbers of parts.
What it calculates, and what it does not
The calculator covers base salary and the statutory seniority bonus. It shows net pay, the breakdown of deductions and the total employer cost.
It does not replace a full payslip. Bonuses and allowances, overtime, benefits in kind, absences and collective agreement grids are not included: they are added in a real payroll run and change the result. IPM parameters and the work accident rate are shown with common values, whereas they are set company by company.
